The administration strongly encourages and supports the inmate visitation program and implements those rules necessary to protect the visitation program and to insure its orderly operation. It is requested that complete knowledge and compliance with the following regulations be practiced to protect the continuation of visiting privileges.


Schedule for Visitation:

Male Inmates will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Fridays.

Female inmates will be arranged as necessary through the jail supervisor.

In order to visit an inmate at the Gilchrist County Jail a visitation form must be completed and turned in to the jail staff no later than 5:00 pm the Thursday prior to the visit. Only persons on the list and approved will be allowed to visit. You can either print a visitation form from the link below or you may get one from the jail itself. All forms must be returned to the jail either by mail or dropped off at:

Visitation Rules:

  • Any items other than these are considered contraband and not allowed in visitation: nitroglycerin, inhalers or anything medically necessary, keys and identification, money for drinks not to exceed $20.00.
  • All visitors are subject to a pat search or metal detector -screening prior to and departing the facility. ANY REFUSAL AND YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED INTO THE FACILITY.
  • Adult visitors must show a valid form of picture identification with their date of birth and address on it. The only forms of I.D. accepted are state issued drivers license, state issued I.D. card, or military I.D. card. NO OTHER PROOF OF I.D. WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  • No minor under eighteen (18) years of age will be permitted to visit without a parent or legal guardian and accompanied by an adult (21 years of age or older). Minors sixteen years of age and older will need to have a valid form of picture identification.
  • No more than two (2) adult visitors per inmate will be allowed to visit at one time.
  • Children will not be left unattended on the premises. Doing so will result in the termination of the visit.
  • Visitors are only allowed to visit one inmate per day.
  • Once a visitor exits the facility they will not be permitted to re-enter.
  • Once an inmate is returned to the cell block they will not be permitted to re-enter visitation.
  • No contact of any kind will be permitted during visitation.
  • Visitors who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs or have an odor of alcohol about them will not be allowed to visit.
  • Visitor(s) convicted of a felony and/or on State Probation or Parole will not be permitted to visit.
  • Visitors ever charged with or attempted bringing contraband into the facility will not be permitted in to visit. Violation of this rule will result in immediate and permanent loss of visitation privileges. 
  • Visitors and inmates shall conduct themselves in a manner acceptable to the standards of good taste in the community. Profanity, abusive language or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any of these will be grounds to have their visit terminated.
  • The Correctional Staff may terminate a visit at any time a violation of rules warrants such action.
  • Any visitor or inmate found in violation of any rule(s) is subject to permanent or temporary suspension of visiting privileges and/or other appropriate action.
  • All vehicles must be locked and secure before entering the facility. Failing to do so will terminate visit.
  • You will not be permitted to share drinks during visitation.

Visitation Dress Code:

Visitors will be required to conform to established dress code:

  • No shorts or skirts above knee length permitted.
  • Shirts must have sleeves and cover entire upper torso.
  • No hats, caps, or “do-rags”.
  • No tank tops, strapped shirts, tube tops, or halter-tops.
  • Shoes must be worn.
  • Any clothing with profane, vulgar, or illegal pictures or language is not allowed.
  • No see through clothing allowed.
  • No Pocketbooks, tote bags, sun glasses, hats, or wallets. (prescription glasses only)
  • No food or drink may be brought into the facility. 

This is a detention Facility, security is of the utmost.  Your welfare and safety as well as that of the facility staff and the inmates must be considered. Your actions must not jeopardize that safety.  As a visitor of the Gilchrist County Detention Facility, you are required to comply with specific rules and regulations.  If you have any questions concerning the facility or any people please contact the Jail Commander.
